Sci Fi Week! Random Reads: "Aftermath!" by Warner, Sutton, and Austin

Sci-Fi Week is back, Groove-ophiles! Hope ya dig it!

A couple'a years ago we spent the weekend reading Marvel's awesome adaptation of MGM's Logan's Run flick. (You can still read the whole thing here, here, and here, btw!) Did'ja know that Marvel was given the go-ahead to produce a comicbook sequel to the 1976 sci-fi shocker? It was a novel idea, to show both the good and bad sides of being humanity's "liberator". Sadly, the sequel lasted only two issues (Logan's Run #'s 6-7, March-April 1977), but it was nicely written by John (Bloodstone) Warner with art by Tom (Boy from Derby) Sutton, Terry (X-Men) Austin, and Klaus (Daredevil) Janson. Wanna take a look at the "epilogue" from ish #6? Okay, then, let's check out  the..."Aftermath!"
Dig that far-out Paul Gulacy cover!

  1. Love this series - bought all of the back issues a few years ago and had them bound. Of course, nothing beats the initial movie adaptation issues, but #s 6-7 were still quite good, and it makes me regret that the series didn't last at least as long as Marvel's Battlestar Galactica (another unjustly forgotten comic-book spin-off series).

  3. If you keep going with these, don't forget Bizarre Adventures #28. It had a reworked Logan's Run inventory story from Archie Goodwin and Michael Golden! Thanks for posting these!

  4. PLEASE post the final LOGAN'S RUN comic! And did you get my e-mail asking if you knew anything about a 1970s DC Horror comic (not sure which one, but either THE WITCHING HOUR or HOUSE OF SECRETS) where this dude tries to steal Santa's sleigh and ends up being hung at the end of the story when Santa and the reindeer take flight, and the final shot is of a silhouette of the sleigh and the dude hanging from it as it sails past a full moon? I am going INSANE to find that story...

    2. Found it on THE HORRORS OF IT ALL site, but it doesn't look familiar; what I remember is a story about a dude who treks to the North Pole to rob Santa Claus blind, and when he finds Santa's sleigh, the rope around Santa's bag of goodies wraps around his throat, and when Santa takes flight, the dude gets hung -- and, at the end, we see a silhouette of the sleigh with the dude being drug through the air, hung, with a full moon in the background. I know I didn't dream it up, but no one else seems to remember it...
